Bright lights and noise together can also disrupt nocturnal patterns. Data centers typically run around the clock, so nighttime noise is constant, not occasional like traffic from a daytime business.
What to ask for
Request a full noise impact study that includes low-frequency measurements, nighttime noise contours, and a setback distance from the nearest homes. Ask how often backup generators will be tested, whether the facility will use sound walls or quieter cooling designs, and what the local noise ordinance requires for industrial uses. Also ask how complaints will be logged and resolved.
